Your photos will be used to create predator identification kits. These identification kits will enable us to understand biodiversity, population size, demographics, and their behaviour. This is critical for animal conservation due to the huge impact they have on their environment. Although they equate to a small part of the ecosystem’s total biomass, they help regulate the whole environment. Therefore, data on all predators is a key indicator on the ecosystem’s health. The photos you take will help contribute towards this cause.

Modern River View Room

This Modern River Lodge is geographically situated on the northern shore of the Olifants River in the Balule Private Nature Reserve, approximately 17 kilometres south of the town of Phalaborwa. Being situated in a Big 5 Game Reserve the following wildlife animals are regularly spotted: buffalo, elephant, lion, water buck, kudu, impala and many more.

The Olifants river flows from west to east through the Kruger National Park into our neighbouring country Mozambique. While enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the majestic Olifants river, you can listen to the roar of lions at night.

One of the entrance gates to the Kruger National Park is in Phalaborwa. The surroundings are dense with typical indigenous trees, bush and grass species associated with the African bushveld, where wildlife of all sorts is still abundant. Hippos, crocodiles, and birds can be viewed from the camp, with occasional elephant visits as well.

Luxury room

The Luxury Lodge is part of an exclusive, privately-owned wildlife sanctuary, ‘Klaserie Private Nature Reserve’, which in turn is part of the Greater Kruger National Park. The reserve lies to the west of the Timbavati covering 60 000 ha on either side of the Klaserie River. The Lodge is in a high lying area of the reserve and is a traditional farmhouse style lodge with the thatched central lodge looking south toward the Mariepskop in the Mpumalanga Drakensberg. The camp accommodates 10 guests in luxurious, fully serviced thatched chalets with his and hers private bathrooms (excluding room 5).

Wide verandas overlooking the waterhole provide for relaxation during the day when not lazing on a pool lounger in the garden, as well as the perfect setting for our delectable high teas, as well as one of the locations for our vast brunches and romantic dinners, keeping a keen eye on the waterhole for wildlife coming to drink. Our candlelit boma with a therapeutic fireplace is the perfect end to the day. Chalets are luxurious, fitted with air-conditioning, private minibar, and coffee station.
